Seven Things That Made Me Smile This Week

Tuesday, October 02, 2018

This week was a slightly surreal one for me because Friday marked my final day as a part-time admin assistant and, this week, I start my first graduate role as content writer and social media executive which I am so bloomin' excited about! So in a week of new beginnings, here are some of the things that have been making me smile.

Final day in admin. Since graduating in July, I've been looking forward to the prospect of moving on from admin into a digital marketing role and, this Friday, it finally happened! I was totally spoiled with gifts, cards and balloons on my last day at work and although I couldn't be more excited about my new job, it was definitely a little bittersweet to say goodbye to some fab people.

Lotus biscuits. I was treated to some great leaving gifts on Friday but, as food is definitely the way to my heart, a gift bag filled with Lotus biscuits was by far the best present I received and they'll definitely make the perfect tea-time snack for the next couple of weeks.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. After reading this novel back in Summer, I was super hyped to watch the film when it came out on DVD and it definitely didn't disappoint because, like the book, it was super cosy, heart-warming and just plain good! Naturally, I do think the book was a little better than the movie, simply because it was way more detailed, but with such a great cast and a brilliant story, the movie was amazing!

Vegan Dominos Pizza. This Monday, was quite possibly the least monday-y monday ever because my biggest pizza-related-wish came true in the form of a vegan pizza from Dominos complete with the cheesiest cheese ever. My first ever job was actually at Dominos and, in my pre-vegan days I was obsessed with their pizzas so its safe to say I was more than a little excited to have Dominos back in my life again. I uploaded a full taste test of their vegan supreme on my youtube channel, but until you watch that, all I'll say is, it was gooooood.

Book shopping. Partly to save my bank balance and partly because my tbr pile was growing at an alarming rate, I put myself on a book buying ban for the month of September but, as we're now in October, I decided to treat myself to a few new books and, oh my, I just love book shopping. I was also pretty please that my Waterstones loyalty card got me £10 off my order, meaning that I got five books for only £29 - bargain or what?!

Pumpkin candles. Whilst I was in town doing some book shopping, I couldn't resist a quick trip into Home Sense for a quick browse of their autumn candles. I'm not going to lie, I was a tad overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of pumpkin, cinnamon and bonfire scented candles but, after a lengthy browse I managed to pick out two pumpkin spiced candles that have left my room smelling divine.

Late night baking. Partly to ease my new job nerves and partly because Jay wanted some biscuits, I indulged in a little Sunday evening baking and, I have to say, there's something strangely relaxing about whipping up a batch of gingerbread cookies. Plus, I now have gingerbread so it's a win-win, really.

What's been making you smile this week?
