Summer is officially here and I literally couldn't be more excited about it because, I don't know about you but, five weeks away from work sounds really bloomin' great right about now! By the end of the working week, I was feeling super drained but, even after just a couple of days rest, I'm already feeling more rejuvenated and 100% ready to make the most of the first summer break I've had in years where I won't need to prepare for the next academic year. So, on a week that I've been looking forward to for ages, here are my highlights.
Coconut Oreo Thins. Oreo Thins came out a while ago and, if I'm honest, I totally ignored them because, if I fancy an Oreo, I'm gonna grab a proper big Oreo (probably double stuffed) and really enjoy it. But, my snubbing of thin Oreos changed this week when I spotted them in a new coconut flavour because, thin or not, coconut flavour Oreos are something I definitely need in my life! And, while I definitely have to eat twice as many thin Oreos compared to the normal ones, coconut Oreos are, as predicted, seriously delicious.
Summer break. As I'm sure you've gathered by now, I have been more than ready for the summer break for weeks now and, when I left work on Thursday afternoon, I was quite simply buzzing that I had a whole five weeks of freedom ahead of me. I'm super excited for the European travelling Jay and I will be doing in Croatia, Slovenia and Italy in a week but right now, I'm just grateful for a good nights sleep and no 5:30am alarms.
Thunder storms. During the heatwave Britain has been experiencing lately, there have been two kinds of people: the people that tweet about how brilliant the hot weather is and the people who tweet about how living in, what feels like, an oven covered in an eternal layer of sweat is a kind of horrendous torture that should quite simply, not be allowed - needless to say, I'm definitely the latter. So when the heavens finally opened and blessed us with a crazily heavy rain shower and magnificent thunder storm, I was nothing short of ecstatic. Moody autumn days filled with rain, I am ready for you.
Pizza Express Blackcurrent & Lemon Semifreddo. When I went for a Pizza Express with my dad and brother this week, I decided it would be just a little bit rude not to try their new vegan pudding and I'm so glad I tried it because it was phenomenal. It was something of a cross between a mousse and a cheesecake and the refreshing flavours of lemon and blackcurrant were the perfect thing to dig into after a delicious vegan pizza.
Harry Potter marathon. Because his parents are on holiday, Jay and I are dog/cat/house-sitting for the next week so we decided it was the perfect opportunity for a Harry Potter movie marathon. It's been such a long time since I watched all of the movies in order and, a couple of movies into our marathon, it's safe to say I'm loving being sucked into the magic of the Harry Potter world again.
Cat mug. When it comes to mugs, my motto is "you can never have too many" so, when someone at work gifted me an adorable cat mug as an end of year present, I was more than a little excited to have another mug to add to my ever expanding collection.
Vegan Halo Top. Recently I heard about vegan Halo Top ice cream and I was a little gutted that I couldn't find any in my local supermarket because their flavours always sound seriously delicious. Luckily, my local Tesco finally seems to be stocking the dairy free ice creams and, naturally, I had to grab a pint of peanut butter flavour ice cream because, let's be real, peanut butter anything is always a great idea!
What's been making you smile this week?
