Seven Things That Made Me Smile This Week

Sunday, January 14, 2018

Thanks to last week's (glorious) four day work week, this week felt especially long! I also had exams at the beginning of the week which, for me, always leaves my days feeling a little disjointed and out of whack but, a long week doesn't always have to be a bad thing and although this week dragged a little, I also feel like I got a lot done and, as with any busy week, there were plenty of things to smile about! Here are some of my highlights:

The end of exams. This week was exams week for me and, regardless of how well prepared I am, I always find myself losing sleep around exam time, partly because I stay up much later than usual to study and partly because I actually dream about my exam! Thankfully I only had one exam this semester and after a lot of studying and a three hour exam of essay writing, I was relieved for exams to be over and for my sleep schedule to get back to normal again!

Brooklyn 99 on Netflix. After the excitement of Friends being added to Netflix last week, Jay and I were beyond happy to see that a new series of Brooklyn 99 was added this week. Brooklyn 99 is definitely one of our favourite sit-coms because it's just one of those feel-good shows that really makes you laugh out loud, which is exactly what you need after a day at work. Now that we're alternating between Brooklyn 99 and Friends, it's safe to say we're pretty set for comedy shows for the foreseeable future.

New food processor. This week I decided to splash out and treat myself to a new food processor (although I'm aware that unless you're a foodie, a new food processor probably doesn't sound like a treat)! There are so many recipes ideas bouncing around my brain that really need a food processor, so I'm super excited to get in the kitchen and start experimenting!

Carrot cake. On the subject of getting in the kitchen, one of this weekend's bakes was a divine, carrot cake with a cashew cream frosting, need I say more?! Veganising my favourite non-vegan treats is something I love to do and carrot cake with a cuppa is just as good as I remember it! The recipe will be on the blog soon.

The Good Doctor. Although most of my TV watching time right now is being spent watching Friends and Brooklyn 99, one of my guilty pleasures is The Good Doctor. I can't quite figure out what it is that makes this show so watchable but it's the perfect show to enjoy with a cuppa and snack on a cosy Saturday afternoon.

Granola. As a porridge addict, I rarely eat cereal and granola for breakfast but I do think they make a pretty darn tasty snack! Lately, I've been coming home from work absolutely ravenous and digging into a bowl of crunchy granola has been the perfect way to boost my energy before an afternoon run.

Drink Me chai latte. I've been seeing the new Drink Me vegan chai latte mix all over social media recently and, as something of a chai addict, I couldn't resist picking some up when I spotted it in Tesco this week. It was sweet, cinnamony and creamy, what more could you want from a chai latte?!

What has been putting a smile on your face this week?
