Seven Things That Made Me Smile This Week {blogmas day 10}

Sunday, December 10, 2017

This week has been a pretty busy one! The last week of classes is always a little hectic and I've also had some family birthdays, work meals and, of course, plenty of blogmas content to post. But the thing that stands out most about this week is how ridiculously cold it has been! The weather seems to have taken a massive nosedive this week, and I've spent the majority of the week either hugging my mug of tea whilst shivering or complaining about how cold I am! Despite the bitterly cold weather, there have been plenty of things to smile about this week so here are some of my highlights.

The end of semester one. Friday was the last day of semester one of university and I'm so ready for the break! I am feeling a little bit daunted by the fact that I'm now half way through my final year at university because I really don't know where the time has gone! But, in between exam revision and dissertation research, I'm really looking for a chance to catch up on some reading and just relax for a few weeks.

Salted caramel pretzels. Whilst shopping in M&S this week, I came across some salted caramel pretzels and let's just say, it was love at first bite. I'm quite confident that I'd enjoy anything flavoured with salted caramel, but these pretzels were divine and, quite possibly, a little too moreish!

Two Pizzas. This week I went out for two meals - for my grandma's birthday and a Christmas meal with work - and on both occasions, I managed to demolish a pizza. If we're being honest, any week with that involves pizza is a good one, so a week with two pizzas is even better!

Vlogmas. One of my favourite things about December is the abundance of videos I have to watch on YouTube. Vlogmas means that even when I haven't got a Christmas movie on, there's always plenty of festive content to enjoy and it means that I always feel super festive, all the way from the first to the twenty-fifth!

Yankee Candle Christmas Eve. I've been burning my favourite candle this week and our bedroom has never smelled more festive! And, as the weather has been especially wintery this week, being able to come home to a cosy, festive bedroom has been perfect.

Christmas earrings. Every December, I push aside my usual jewellery in favour of some festive, albeit a little tacky, earrings. This week I've been rocking some reindeer earrings and they've made a super cute festive addition to my usual work outfits.

Gingerbread. As my blogmas posts have shown, I've been doing a lot of festive baking this December! I've been loving the chance to try out some new recipes and ideas to get into the Christmas spirit, but one old favourite that I've been loving has been gingerbread! Having featured on blogmas day 2, my gingerbread recipe went down so well in our house that I think it might have to be a weekly bake in the run up to Christmas - and there's no complaints from me because it is delicious!

I've now only got one more week of work until the Christmas break and I cannot wait! When does your Christmas break start?

  1. It always surprises me how fast the 'school year' goes. I can't believe this time last year I was like you, half way through the final year of my undergrad, and now I'm a third of the way through a masters. I had my last exam on Monday morning, so my break begins Monday afternoon :D
