Blogmas Day Twenty Two: How My 2015 Resolutions Went!

Tuesday, December 22, 2015

When I made my new years resolutions this January, I mentioned that, along with most of the population, I rarely manage to stick to my resolutions. As I made quite a few this year I thought it would be interesting to see how many I managed to stick to!

"Make more time for reading!"
Honestly, I'm sad to say this hasn't really happened! I was focused on A-Levels until June, and I didn't really do as much reading as I'd hoped over Summer! I'm now an English Literature student so I do read a lot! But the reading lists are so demanding, I haven't been able to read a book of my choice in months!

"Put more effort into school!"
I definitely managed this - I finished A-Levels with grades AAB. I was unbelievably devastated by the B (perks of being a geek), but I got into my firm choice uni on a course I love and looking back, I did my best and ended up with really good grades!

"Eat healthier!"
Last January, I thought I was eating healthier, but in reality, I was doing something I used to do all the time, restricting my calorie intake a crazy amount and interpreting rapid weight loss as health! Over the course of this year I've finally been able to put really unhealthy habits that I've had since I was 13 behind me! I may not be clean eating, but I definitely have a healthier relationship with food now!

"Become a vegetarian (again)!"
I'm very happy to report that I have easily managed to stick to this resolution! I've also done lots of research into the animal agriculture industry and have become very passionate about animal rights! I can safely say I'll never be eating a dead animal again!

"Start swimming more regularly!"
Aside from on my holiday this Summer, I've only been swimming a few times. But I do now go to the gym regularly so, I guess I did achieve the real motivation behind this resolution which was to get fitter!

How did you get on with your 2015 resolutions?

  1. Nice post, congratulations on your brilliant results and getting into uni, hope you're enjoying it! I love your resolutions, I've really been trying to cut down my meat intake and eating healthier but I get what ou mean, that sometimes it eventually turns into just eating less rather than actually eating healthy! But well done for how you're getting on! Have a fab Christmas and a Happy New Year!

    1. Thank you! And yeah, it's so easy to equate health with calories but really, the most important thing isn't how much you're eating but the type of foods you're eating! Happy Christmas!x
